Trussell Trust Shoe Box Evening Wed 20th July 2011

MITTENS and GLOVES needed

YES! Mittens and gloves and scarves too are needed . . . .
On Wed 20th July Richard Parsons from Trussell Trust and Andrew Morgan from House of Rachel (caring for Bulgarian orphans) gave us most interesting, informative and challenging presentations of their work.  We came away utterly inspired to encourage their work and to do whatever we can . . . .
    so . . . .    for starters:
            "CHRISTMAS BOX APPEAL"
One lady brought along the hats she has been knitting - all 86 of them!  As we hope to put a hat, mittens or gloves and a scarf in each shoebox, please please please can you get saving, making and collecting scarves and mittens and gloves too?  And if you like making things, shoe bags and pencil cases are needed too.

Trussell Trust send boxes to babies, adults and teens as well as to lots and lots of children.  Leaflets with lists of ideas can be collected from Jan Lavery 850554 or Bob and Chrissie Taylor 850811 OR downloaded from the T T Website www.trusselltrust.org

During October there will be collection points for boxes AND there'll be a couple of "box filling sessions" in our villages . . . so . . . if you have perhaps a bundle of soft toys or stationary or toiletries or small toys etc etc there'll be opportunities to donate them and to "box-up" together .  Also if anyone has the opportunity to approach any firms, businesses or supermarkets etc for "job lots" of items like pencils, felt tips, soap, toothpaste etc, that'd be great.

On behalf of many little ones (and 'not-so-little-ones') who'll have a very smiley face this Christmas, knowing that someone cares, may we say a very big THANK YOU.
ps please remember to save your shoe boxes

Brown Trout

Well!"  I finally have remembered to walk QUIETLY enough up to the river to see brown trout - what a treat - what a treasure:
4 in Codford by the bridge, 1 more dashing away under the weed just a little further along and
1over the A36 by the large bridge - it really jumped high out of the water

Back home in Codford after a weekend trip to Devon

My first morning back home in Codford (Mon) I walked the lovely river walk at Sherrington with the dogs.
How beautiful the scabious and knapweed . . .

Then, Tues morning - what a joy - a greenfinch on our peanuts
AND
a Red Admiral butterfly along with the Tiger Moths in the garden -
WOW!
